Following a career ending triple leg break playing rugby in 2000, I began studying for a career in personal training, taking the lessons I had learned from working with professional athletes in London, the South of France and the States and incorporating them into a training regime called ‘BENCHMARK’. This offers bespoke progressive conditioning programmes based around plyometrics, cardiovascular maximums and propriaceptive capabilities, combined with ongoing evaluations. My particular interests are fitness improvements in golf and ‘sportive’ cycling. However as these programmes are based on whole body wellness, they are of huge benefit to anyone looking to get just a little fitter for health reasons right through to someone improving their elite sports performance. I studied in America to become a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (Strength and Conditioning) and with the leading British Personal Training Company, Premier Global for their highest Diploma. I spend a lot of time in the states improving my knowledge so that training sessions will always take into account the very latest developments in sports and exercise research. At present my own fitness challenge is to alter my physique from front row rugby to long distance cycle racing. Having already competed in the Caledonian E’tape and the French E’tape which covered a mountain stage of the Tour de France. To achieve my aims I am currently working with Emma to optimise my nutrition and my structure. I’d also rather like to be a scratch golfer but my putting is a disaster! |

Dr Emma Gillett DC qualified in 1987, one of the youngest ever, from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and has been in Private Practice to date. She uses the McTimoney Technique and has taken post graduate training in Cranio Sacral Therapy, through the Upledger Institute and combines this seamlessly with the manipulation to deliver a comprehensive treatment to her patients. She has a special interest in Nutrition which over the past 20 years she has combined with her structural work to further enhance her clients’ health. This she now recognises is a vital part of her treatment plan with each case. She has taught within the McTimoney College of Chiropractic to third and fourth year undergraduates as is fascinated with the scope of the chiropractic health care system and has also refined her work to deal with paediatrics. At present she is training for and running 10k races, off road, after a six year break from her running and fitness due to other projects which took her time. When entering the gym to begin again, she handed David a rather ‘soft’ physique and was amazed at the speed of progress and her ability to surpass previous bests. AT HEALTH MATTERS WE PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH ! Emma is recognised by BUPA, PPP, Royal and Sun Alliance, Norwich Union and other smaller providers making her specific fees available via your health care insurance provider |
